As foreign exchange students, you might have faced some severe barriers and obstacles in choosing which courses to choose aside from your major due to language differences. In HYU (Hanyang University), there are actually many English courses in various fields of studies.
However, the problem is, even though there are a lot that exchanges students can choose from, it is difficult to gather some information about those courses to determine whether you actually want to take the course or not due to lack of information. There are descriptions, but as we all know, those three to four line of description cannot inform us what we are actually going to learn from that course, and how it will be taught in what way.

Then, here, there is a solution for this problem. Use the site called Weehan (weehan.com)! Currently, there are no categories or boards for English user, but when I suggested them to create one for the better informed campus life of exchange student, they replied me back that they would positively go over the suggestion that I made and will plan to make the board for the information sharing. When the board is to be made, exchange students can not only share information of courses, but other seemingly trivial things, such as asking for getting required document or finding for certain building in campus.
Since the English board is yet to be made, I will mention what courses are provided in English and cite some course evaluation of them in Weehan.
The courses that are currently provided are:
Animal Ehics
The Language of Global cuisine
Cultural and Ethnic Diversity in Korea
Capturing the Essence of Outliers: Exploring the Minds of Innovative Leaders
Critical Reading in Social Science
Modern Stress and You
Reading in Science Fiction
영어연기개론 (principles of acting)

영어말하기 및 표현연습2 (English Lyrics and analyzing the expression)
United States-Korea Relations From 1945

* In the weehan site that I had introduced earlier, it provides the information of the course by giving them a rating out of 5 stars. It also includes the criteria in score, how the professor teaches during class, and the types of assignments given to students, not to mention the tendencies of midterm/final exam. All of the courses that are given in English are non-curved system.

Elective courses Recommendation
영어말하기 및 표현연습2 (English Lyrics and analyzing the expression)
Prof. Gary Turnham
This course is basically proceed mainly with team discussion. Professor introduces songs for each class session, encouraging the teams (the team in here does not last for semester-long, it changes every class depend on where you sit) to share what they had felt after listening to the song. Then, he teaches the expressions which were used in lyrics of songs, such as personification, exaggeration, and so on.
There are no test in this course. There would be one presentation for introducing a song that you like just like professor did in class. You basically prepare a song and describe why you choose this song to present in front of other classmates along with the expression that were used in the song.
For the final, there would be one take-home assignment: write a poet by yourself and describe the expression that you had used in the poet. The length would be approximately one page.
This course is well-known to HYU students to one of the “must-take” courses. So be ready to click it on the very first trial when you register! Everybody is targeting this course J
★★★★★
Cultural and Ethnic Diversity in Korea
S. Afflick Smith
(This information is cited and translated from the Weehan)
Through this course, students can learn how different people with various cultural diversity are living and cooperating together, along with the Korea’s posture toward it.
During the class, professor distributes some print-outs (usually articles) and the lecture is brought with the presentation. Students needed to from a group composed of 5 to 6 people in every other class, discussing what the professor asked us to. Professor gives short writing essay assignment for almost every week, and it is scored through the application. The attendance check is also done with this application.
There are no textbook to buy since professor is only using the presentation, and all of the student can have the access to it when they need to review. There are no test in this course. Rather, students need to write a middle-length article. ★★★★★
